We've come to the end of another very successful National Amateur Golf Tournament and wish to thank you once again for your generous contribution which made the tournament such a success. The golfers were put to the test and one can hardly imagine more difficult conditions to play in. The fist day we had a strong 40km/h north easter to contend with. This changed midway through the first round of the second day to a south, westerly wind which at the commencement of the third round picked up to gail force standards. The fourth round being played in a light south, easterly breeze with consistent rain making sure every club and piece of clothing is thoroughly drenched. These conditions are probably to be blamed for the high scoring with the average shots per round being:

Round 1 – 79,3 Lowest Round : Justin Turner (68)
Round 2 – 75,7 Lowest Round : Jared Harvey (68)
Round 3 – 79,6 Lowest Round : Danie van Tonder (71)
Round 4 – 79,2 Lowest Round : Dylan Keylock & Christo Roos (71)

All in all, and despite the weather, a fantastic event that was finally won by Aren Russell from Westlake Golf Club in the Cape on a total score of 293, 2 shots better than Jared Harvey and 4 shots better than Christiaan van der Merwe and Danie van Tonder, who came in at 297.
