Prince’s Grant… the way life should be lived…
About Prince’s Grant
Set between the luscious sugarcane familiar to the North Coast, and the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean, lays Prince’s Grant Coastal Golf Estate- the epitome of Modern day colonial elegance and beauty. A hidden gem on the North Coast, this estate is home to the avid golfer and playground to young families looking for refuge from the busyness of the city.
In October 1856, George Wilson Prince acquired the piece of land on which Prince’s Grant is built by means of a Deed of Grant issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Natal. In order to retain an association between the property’s history and the present-day estate, the developers decided to use the name Prince’s Grant.
Soon after this, the farm was acquired by Babu Bodasing, an indentured cane cutter from India. The land remained in the hands of the Bodasing family until it was sold to Prince’s Grant Property Share Block Limited by Mr Raj Bodasing. The latter is still a shareholder and property owner at Prince’s Grant. Guy Smith, founder of Prince’s Grant Coastal Golf Estate, had a dream to build a golf course. Through sheer perseverance, this dream became a reality, and in November 1994, Prince’s Grant was officially opened.
The estate has flourished into one of class and beauty, with roaming buck, magnificent bird life and boasts a world class par-72 18-hole championship Golf Course designed by local and distinguished architect, Peter Matkovich. Prince’s Grant has, over the last 25 years, developed into a self-sufficient estate, with boreholes providing the residents with a constant water supply, telecom towers ensuring that phones and internet are available to all, and generators around common areas means that work continues despite the Load Shedding we’ve become so accustomed to!
The Colonial Structure of the Lodge accommodates 6 modern decorated suites overlooking the beauty of the estate and with views of the ocean, home for many a business traveller and a weekend treat for families and couples looking for the English Romance. The Umdoni Suites, situated on the property and a mere 300meters from the main building, surround one of the estate pools and allow for privacy from the everyday visitor to the lodge. Famous for their delicious curries and freshly baked scones, the Bunkers Restaurant offers a wide range in food selection, with locally sourced products and a fully stocked bar for that end of day sundowner, or midweek family treat. Mulligans Pub ensures that residents and guests enjoy monthly Quiz Nights, Ladies Book Club, Camera Club and holiday activities, making this estate the choice of every family- seldom having to leave the safety of our gates for entertainment.
Situated within close proximity to Kwadukuza Private Hospital, Fire & Rescue Services and the local Mall, residents needn’t travel too far for the everyday necessities needed. Onsite support services of IPSS provide around the clock security, and basic replenishment items can be purchased through the Halfway House. Daily shuttle services for school goers and to KSIA or Umhlanga, make this estate stand out as remote and yet accessible. Far enough to escape traffic and yet close enough to all that matters, Prince’s Grant lives up to its motto of, “the way life should be lived.”
The lagoon and swimming pools provide all round entertainment for residents and guests where one can enjoy canoeing, fishing & stand-up paddling in the freshwater, and the estate houses both a tennis and squash court for those needing more of a workout. Walking trails & birding enthral the nature enthusiasts where wildlife exists in abundance and for the adventure lover, mountain bike trails in the surrounding forests. Young and old are able to roam freely, making this the perfect place to raise a family. 25 years of direct control have ensured the preservation of natural environments, birdlife and beautiful dunes supported by a pristine coastline and private beach access.
The estate’s main focus, however, is on providing a safe and secure haven for its permanent residents. Security is paramount and the estate is committed to preserving and nurturing the beautiful environment and natural surroundings. Whether as a second home or an investment, the price and location of this estate, along with it offerings provide a first world experience in a growing economy.
